Zoo Negara (National Zoo of malaysia)


"With some 5,000 animals from over 400 species of mammals, amphibians, birds, reptiles and fish, Zoo Negara is considered as one of the most exciting zoos in Southeast Asia. The zoo also has an impressive aquarium display, a primate park and a reptile house."

Zoo Negara is the first national zoo in Malaysia. It was opened in 1963. Until now, the Zoo is owned and operated by the Malaysian Zoological Society. It has a collection of a wide range of animals from all over the world. Besides showcasing the animals, the Zoo emphasized on these four main areas - Conservation, Education, Research and Recreation. The zoo is a valuable resource for all visitors from within Malaysia and overseas.

Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, the zoo has transformed itself to an open concept zoo with over 90% of its animals kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature. We are working in making sure that the old zoo concept is changed entirely.
Zoo Negara (The National Zoo) is located in Hulu Kelang about 13km from Kuala Lumpur. The zoo houses some 5,000 animals from over 400 species including birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. It is particularly popular during weekends and public holidays. Besides just watching the animals, there are performances by orangutans and sea lions as well.

Getting There:
By Bus:
If you opt for public transportation, take Intrakota Bus No 20 from Central Market, a No 170 bus from Jalan Ampang, or a No 17 bus from Jalan Raja Laut in the Chow Kit area.
By Taxi:
From the city centre, the best way to get to Zoo Negara is to board the PURTA LRT, disembarking at Wangsa Maju station. From here, you can catch a cab to Zoo Negara.
By Rail:
Take the PUTRA LRT at Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, disembarking at Wangsa Maju station. From there, PUTRA Line Feeder Buses provide shuttle service every half an hour beginning at 9.30am and ends at 7.00pm to Zoo Negara every Sundays and Public Holidays.
Drive yourself:
The Zoo is located about 13km from Kuala Lumpur city centre, along Jalan Hulu Kelang, which is accessible through Jalan Ampang.

KTM Komuter

The KTM Komuter is a fast and efficient train catering especially to commuters in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding suburban areas.

From LCCT, take the connecting feeder bus to the Nilai Komuter station. From there, take the Komuter train to KL Sentral, the transportation hub of Kuala Lumpur. To go to LCCT using KTM Komuter, you can go to any KTM Komuter station and then head towards Nilai Komuter station. There will be connecting feeder bus between Nilai station and LCCT. Look at these connecting services available from KTM. The fees charged for travelling between KL Sentral and Nilai Komuter Station is RM4.70.

KTM Komuter tickets can be purchased at the counters or by using the self-service Ticket Vending Machines, which are available at all stations and halts. You can calculate the KTM fare online or download the KTM Komuter fare schedule before getting on a KTM Komuter.


Express Rail Link (ERL)

From the LCCT, there are feeder buses to the KLIA and Salak Tinggi ERL stations. Take the ERL to KL Sentral Station. To go to LCCT, take the KLIA Express and KLIA Transit at the KL Sentral Station. Once you are at KLIA or Salak Tinggi station, there are feeder bus services to take you to the LCCT.
Public Bus

Bus services are available to get you to LCCT easily. The fastest and most cost-effective means to getting to and from LCCT would be via SkyBus shuttle service at less than RM10 one way.

Arrival to KL...

The two main airports are the KLIA and the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). The former caters for all international flights and the latter serves mostly AirAsia passengers. LCCT is situated about 20km away from KLIA.

Trains
The services are run by Express Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. which began its operations in 2002. The KLIA Express service shares the line with KLIA Transit, which stops at all stations along the line. Both KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services are often referred to by Malaysians as the ERL, or Express Rail Link.

KLIA Express
KLIA Express offers a non-stop journey between KL Sentral and KLIA. The journey takes only 28 minutes. Special wheelchair seat compartments have been allocated for the disabled and secured containers are used to transport the check-in and check-out luggage.

KLIA Transit
This commuter service stops at 3 intermediate stations:
